Comfortably numb

Yep, just like Floyd...I have become comcortably numb....to rejections that is. I am at the point where I no longer pay attention to them except to look at my submission to see what I might have done wrong in my approach with my query. With each one I pick out where I might have changed it to make it better but other than that...I am numb to the fact that they don't want my project(s) right now. Numb in this case is good. At one time I would have become frustrated or wondered if I am any good. Now I am numb and say NEXT. I've developed thick skin...very thick. I know that one of these days a yes is coming, one of these days I'm going to catch someone by surprise and they are going to say... send me more. Until that time, let them keep saying no...I have become comfortably numb.

  1. Often the rejection has nothing to do with you, but with the market, the prejudices of the agent or editor, your material being too much like something the agent or editor has already sold or published -- so many things that are out of control with nothing to do with us or our work. Eerie header you have but perfect for an author of horror. Roland

  2. The next step is admitting you'd rather go Indie. The "it's not you, it's me" excuses get old. All the time and energy wasted on looking for Mr. or Ms. Right Agent or Publisher could be better spent honing your target audience. I think that's especially true in horror. One writer's opinion, for what it's worth.

  5. Thanks for the kind words and follows. I'm sticking around for sure. And yes Belinda Indie does look good from time to time.

  6. Rejection be my life, too. Hang in there. Never surrender, never give up.
